Overview

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for Supplier Quality Assurance in Supplier Selection, Supplier APQP/PPAP, and Supplier Quality related problem solving, and supplier continual improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site supplier process assessments and systems audits
  • Manage supplier development in APQP, PPA/VDA 2, PPAP/PSW (Part Submission Warrant)
  • Promote design for manufacturability, with engineering and suppliers to review/modify tolerances/specifications on new and existing designs
  • Lead supplier quality assurance activities and for suppliers in North America/Europe
  • Monitor and drive quality related problem solving, 8D resolution, and supplier scorecard improvements
  • Identify value engineering and process improvements that result in cost reduction opportunities
  • Support product transitions to or from North America

Qualifications

  • Team player who can also work well independently
  • Strong interpersonal, communications skills, and presentation skills
  • Proficiencies in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Minitab, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • A full understanding of AIAG Manuals including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and Six Sigma
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and requests in an efficient manner
  • Problem solving and decision making ability
  • Mechanical Engineering background; tooling, injection molding, stamping, welding
  • Speak fluent English
  • Position requires the ability to travel 50% or more, domestically and internationally

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor in Engineering or related field
  • Five years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering related position
  • Auto Industry experience
  • Battery Industry experience preferred
  • Process Audit experience ISO 9001, TS/IATF16949 – VDA6.3 preferred
  • CQA/CQE Certification preferred
