Overview

As part of the ESG Software Engineering group, the ESG Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the technical development of all application level Battery Management System (BMS) software for one or multiple A123 product lines. The ESG Software Engineering group is chartered to develop all BMS related software.  This Software Engineering Manager will create metrics and measure the group’s performance against them in order to continuously improve the group’s performance.


 

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the product line software engineering team and associated activities
  • Administer performance management processes and manage the career development of subordinates
  • Identify, attract, train, & retain key engineering talent for the team
  • Support new business opportunities by contributing to technical compliance matrix development
  • Track and report program/product line status
  • Estimate schedule and resource requirements
  • Interface with other technical departments to ensure successful product launches
  • Create technical presentations and documentation to support design and development activities
  • Participate in and/or host design reviews and presentations
  • Drive continual improvement of the software team via process improvements, best practices, and advance tool usage
  • Oversee software design review activities
  • Enforce software development processes
  • Contribute to department budget allocation and tracking

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or related field.
  • 6 years of experience in the job offered or 6 years of experience as a software engineer.

Special Skills

  • 5 years of experience with automotive battery management systems
  • 3 years of project/technical lead experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical designs and targeted functionality to senior managers, software engineers, and automotive OEM customers
  • Ability to develop tool chain usage strategies including configuration management, issue tracking, and problem resolution software
  • 5 years of experience with automotive embedded systems and C programming
  • 3 years of experience with CAN and LIN networking
  • 2 year of experience strategizing and developing process to meet software maturity models such as CMMi or ASPICE
  • Demonstrate ability to independently identify issues, develop solutions, and lead teams toward resolution
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
